Spa Treatments To Do At Home
By Melissa Steele While everyone who enjoys a spa wishes that they could spend more time there, it’s not always convenient or affordable to visit the spa as often as you’d like. Fortunately, the spa experience can be mimicked within the confines of your home. This article explains how you can perform your own spa treatments at home: Pedicure and Manicure To perform your own home pedicure, you’ll need a nail file, foot scrub, a bowl large enough for both of your feet and water, cotton balls, nail polish remover, an orange stick, towels, nail polish, nail clippers, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 5 tablespoons of oil, and 3 drops of lemon juice. First, remove any nail polish, clip your nails, and file them. Mix the sugar, oil, and lemon juice in a bowl filled with warm water. Soak your feet in the mixture for ten minutes. After soaking, scrub your feet with the foot scrub and push back your cuticles with the orange stick. Finish by applying your nail polish. Repeat the process on your hands to perform an at-home manicure. Aromatherapy Aromatherapy is possibly the easiest spa treatment to perform at home. If you choose to use aromatherapy candles, you simply need to purchase the candles of your choice and burn them in your home or, better, during a long, relaxing bath. However, many claim that aromatherapy candles are not as beneficial as burning essential oils. Essential oils can be purchased as easily as aromatherapy candles; however, you’ll need an essential oil burner. Then simply buy the oil of your choice, place a few drops in the burner, and let the aroma fill your home. You can also add a few drops of essential oils to your lotion in order to experience aromatherapy all day long. Body Treatment Quick, easy body treatments can be performed at home and will soften and exfoliate your skin. To create your own body exfoliate and moisturizer, simply mix one-half of a cup of brown sugar with one-fourth of a cup of honey. If you use essential oils for aromatherapy, you can also add a few drops of your oil of choice. In the shower, scrub this mixture all over your body using a loofah for added exfoliation. After scrubbing, simply rinse off with water. Relaxation Perhaps the greatest benefit of a spa is the level of relaxation it provides. However, you don’t have to visit a spa in order to find the same level of relaxation. Locking yourself in the bathroom at the end of the day for a long hot bath can help you relax and sleep easier. This gives you time to think over the things you generally lament over in the bed before sleeping. Yoga is another great relaxation technique to perform at home. There are many different yoga videos that can be purchased online and in retail stores. Doing yoga before bedtime can help you clear your mind and sleep better. Or, try to meditate. Giving yourself time to relax and just be for even a small portion of the day can be just as relaxing and stress-relieving as a visit to the spa.
